Can I access my library account online?
Yes, you can check your account information through the Anaheim Public Library Catalog.
- Enter your library number (located on the back of your library card below the barcode).
- Tab to the second box and enter the last four digits of your phone number.
How do I get a library card?
If you are a permanent resident of California you can get a free library card at any Anaheim Public Library. Just complete a short application, bring along a photo ID (school ID, California ID, or Green Card) and something that shows your current address (parental information is acceptable for children). Parent’s signature is NOT required for teens who are 14 or older.
Am I responsible for my card?
YES, you are responsible for all items checked out on your library card. For your protection, please report a lost, stolen or misplaced library card immediately so that the Library can note this on your account. The library charges a nominal fee to replace library cards.
How many books/items can I borrow with my card?
A maximum of 25 items may be checked out at one time.
High demand items are limited to:
- 5 Free Adult Audiocassettes
- 10 Free Juvenile Audiocassettes
- 10 Music CDs
- 5 DVDs
- 10 Free Videos
- 10 Rental Videos
How long can I borrow the items?
Books can be borrowed for 3 weeks. New adult books can be checked out for 2 weeks. Music CDs and most DVDs can be checked out for 1 week. New DVDs are 2-day rentals.
How can I renew my items?
Most library materials may be renewed TWICE if there are no outstanding requests on the item. Rental materials such as videos, DVDs, CDs, and new books are NOT renewable. Free videos and audios can be renewed. You may check your account and renew materials in the following ways:
- Online Library Catalog (24/7)*
- By telephone at (714) 765-1775 (24/7)*
- In person at the library
* You will need to have your library card number available. Rentals materials cannot be reserved.
How much do I have to pay if I return the items late?
Free items have a 20¢ per day overdue charge for every day past the due date. Charges are assessed on all lost, damaged or overdue items, both free and rental. Please refer to the Fines & Fees Schedule for more specific information.
Where can I return items that I’ve checked out?
You can return items at any of the Anaheim Library Branches. When the library is closed, items can be returned in the book drop in the parking lot or slot near the entrance.
What is a pin number and how do I get one?
Your library PIN (Personal Identification Number) is the last four digits of your phone number * and will allow you to:
- Renew materials and display your own record to see what you have checked out and when items are due.
- Log into the computer when you want to use the Internet.
- Use the self-checkout machines.
- Request a book
- Access our online databases from home.
- Renew your books through Telecirc (714-765-1775).
*Be sure to keep your PIN private. Never share your PIN with anyone else.
How do I request a book?
With a Library card, you can place a "REQUEST" on any item that is:
- Not available at your local branch.
- Currently checked out to someone else.
How do I place a hold?
- Search for the item in the Anaheim Public Library Catalog.
- Click on the REQUEST FIRST AVAILABLE COPY button.
- Log in to your Library account.
- Indicate your choice of pick-up location.
- Select the Request button.
